A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-27_9222724905_o festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar-25102014-25_15630988595_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival13_14463006652_o img_9066_20142633405_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 7u3a9332_49597827112_o img_0557_22729135130_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-12_37623778832_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-07_9222039559_o 2g9a2022_49049240867_o 2g9a8467_32759662738_o img_4125_31960326528_o img_9464_43969671785_o img_9613_43969715785_o img_7991_44550420252_o img_5330_41421440735_o img_2441_26972636918_o img_7224_34644935861_o 08-may-2017-18visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895399654_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_32722812986_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275181180_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-29_24914826226_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
