A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_28048120636_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-21_25181984520_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-18_25477581305_o 20150911_102402727_ios_22755601651_o img_8402_20076549382_o default img_8873_19520458993_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400096701_o img_5330_34284293662_o img_9976_21457048972_o gibraltar-eslovaquia05_10967490536_o img_0074_42877268385_o img_9633_20840571544_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131074511_o img_5075_48919600196_o 2g9a5944_48204653942_o img_9041_38333253392_o_38310544116_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402219340_o img_9175_38364380041_o_37651612754_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-28_29495048432_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-3_34113618361_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318398272_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-18_36750959630_o_37027016171_o img_5146_28857388173_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331782974_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-81_21000527899_o img_5124_29479553355_o 2g9a9894_27773284712_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
