A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703067038_o 7u3a6478_49454485301_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-02_9222700951_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42178229894_o 7u3a6452_49454486021_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0110_15416901426_o img_9932_21457127292_o 2g9a0575_26757758282_o 2g9a8351_48874549528_o img_4203_20919800278_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-30_37398191320_o 7u3a5253_49336227218_o img_9681_20842047033_o panorama_1-3_39603951672_o img_0227_43781202411_o img_5277_48919071703_o img_9704_21463089125_o 2g9a9432_32228011581_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649230_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349009571_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026132951_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565280445_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026144571_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-5_24573487469_o img_2079_37163099455_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-7_24847785431_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288112443_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288112763_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24547373179_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-82_21000526399_o visita-del-ministro-principal-a-cdiz_26523606955_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
