A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3398_34112866761_o img_0316_45202119185_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013_9703173486_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-01_16744244593_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-59_29439810185_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25400098401_o img_7555_35347380990_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851360036_o 2015-University-of-Gibraltar 2g9a4910_32174832740_o_31742371313_o 2019-Gibraltar-Romania-Joint-Issue 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-02_24290194462_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-05_12864621075_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-21_37623775942_o strongmen-201335_10019267813_o Trafalgar-8 cruise-liners-6_39603807432_o gib-view-9_39603221682_o Monos-31 Monos-46 img_9562_24765470447_o heritage107_39633120181_o 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-12 2g9a5380_48726175746_o 2g9a4653_48714308867_o img_0293_31960328868_o dscf7859_44600529141_o img_9490_35393043563_o img_9540_44600528691_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-21_28979584404_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-15_26329399254_o img_0390_36342224611_o img_2962_25251294585_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354051513_o img_9013_24399281761_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
