restauracin-cementerio-witham-25_24850852643_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-13_9222302555_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. airport-0431_24765626727_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16377612311_o img_0440_45202139095_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-en-chordais-10_9225438258_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival14_14277902827_o img_5319_34402457706_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_5346_34402436926_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-4_28816110624_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0099_15439634712_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742372953_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-13_13967070389_o gracias-sanitarios_49847142392_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente33_12249030785_o 62032-0-11 celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-16_9224821622_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-16_23803344398_o strongmen-201361_10019115043_o 2g9a1971_49048524188_o WP_20140510_20_58_47_Panorama 2g9a2061_48706418077_o img_0231_45781934842_o img_4568_48714144391_o img_3210_40937380191_o img_9730_44830660762_o img_8979_37649875304_o_37651625164_o img_0170_28318285958_o 3-europort-avenue_23521830548_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-24_36750957240_o_36354889963_o 2g9a5224_22782890628_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354050513_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652385766_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25399964911_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124238751_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
