A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-67_29439803515_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_0466_22928235021_o img_9761_21280207840_o 2g9a0251_48801280246_o img_9775_21281337969_o 2g9a0833_48806238682_o strongmen-201336_10019260593_o 2g9a3979_49336228303_o img_2781_38737251845_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-34 Monos-en-la-ciudad-36 Mezquita-36 st-michaels-cave-2_39603746752_o 2g9a5331_48726175831_o 2g9a8407_46581735742_o img_9179_38309600126_o_24494936778_o img_2309_43916529934_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-21_31299671614_o img_0403_36082652700_o img_2674_25226075176_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026137421_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318396162_o 7-feb-2017-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-y-el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-juan-franco_31920712624_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-18_30846309582_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-6_30828743591_o 2g9a9365_28857722714_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275179410_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-88_21000519769_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
