181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto Accesibilidad a las playas de Gibraltar Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9398_48907562338_o 7u3a9744_50033001437_o 7u3a9855_50032742381_o img_4835_41820472812_o img_0376_44297009470_o img_9937_43872622512_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699913783_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703047066_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201405_15553474450_o thank-you-to-health-workers-2_49846839216_o img_8739_19520826473_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880436_o 2g9a0207_48801426647_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-22_14150395931_o 20-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho03_14331950153_o strongmen-201369_10018960415_o img_9700_21463096635_o Trafalgar-1 american-war-memorial-7753_25762320768_o Mezquita-3 img_3955_48699830482_o img_1166_36814004296_o img_9828_31008297668_o img_2970_42792489170_o img_3343_39127765010_o img_5380_41421454735_o cm-san-roque-1_36197409555_o img_9912_36311395162_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32217922492_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-22_30280683363_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318387742_o 2g9a7264_29750655951_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455744592_o 2g9a9449_27596409020_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. ceremonia-de-las-llaves-gibraltar-25092014-07_15171086599_o visita-del-ministro-principal-a-cdiz_26431288422_o panorama_gibraltar-6_21397248376_o img_7624_21306911891_o Kingston-3 7U3A4778 image2_50825081996_o Joe-Bossano Los-Condes-saludan-en-presencia-del-Gobernador
