Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_3356_34112847811_o img_0500_32242283148_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival12_15145453526_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862363854_o 7u3a9345_49597829157_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373823_o img_5310_34443987835_o img_2744_44650724035_o 2g9a0527_26757817882_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-14_16264863008_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho27_14129463140_o 2g9a9726_50032155923_o 7u3a5286_49336228403_o WP_20140509_002 heritage175_27855261869_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-1 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-28 2g9a4230_48230715447_o img_4708_48714310862_o img_5402_48919811307_o img_1474_43725801135_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-23_31319333803_o img_9897_42144424772_o 2g9a4559_30915067295_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331789554_o 2g9a9745_29401390581_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354065973_o img_5073-copy_29401041431_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354078283_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-19_26935104625_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026137011_o img_2140_27703091775_o 1_17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_31991160210_o img_7899_20675816914_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
