A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-1_25384702571_o airport-0426_38925599244_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325208355_o 2017-WWF-Bats-of-Gibraltar gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-23_9222675551_o 2g9a8339_48875082206_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868060931_o festival-literario-gibraltar15_10496884345_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31710467764_o 7u3a0018_50032156503_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32554447865_o 7u3a0067_50032693926_o img_2662_44650718575_o Alameda-18 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-15_23770226994_o 2g9a5346_48725846883_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053107_o img_1688_36166373184_o img_0132_28844746007_o img_1034_36599992496_o 2g9a0672_48919595861_o img_0621_36479634145_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-7_31288264824_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-87_29314632820_o img_9581_36197413025_o 2g9a5903_30306645173_o_31114929675_o img_0386_36342229111_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-96_25326898449_o img_0387_35644174704_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-32_30962835285_o img_5183_29479243165_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-51 img_9495_25954130954_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564476_o 000-crowning-dsc_6113_1_19436683705_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
