desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_31646202198_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22557751520_o 001_20071495559_o 20150911_131846682_ios_22754362111_o colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-2_12614309685_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16379332395_o img_0546_45389675714_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival46_14277912360_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii76_20593707514_o 7u3a9326_49597082178_o img_2716_45564862911_o img_9644_40316197620_o bayside-panorama5_48800933633_o 2g9a3958_49336225728_o img_8405_24765365267_o Mezquita-20 img_1166_36814004296_o dscf7917_42790067220_o img_1806_36166462634_o img_1672_43916349654_o img_9306_29944467487_o img_2327_44635531711_o img_8076_44603355741_o img_9932_40383751850_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-158_24674707528_o img_8856_37650978714_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-32_33659898463_o 2g9a5187_30961477885_o 2g9a5300_22783043848_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-43_30661182550_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-55_30828718831_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29845564652_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27758327081_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799742666_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-51_20566240653_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
