Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. las-vistas-son-fantsticas-desde-la-estacin-del-telefrico-de-gibraltar_22551311940_o img_4011_16075876857_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival16_14277969528_o sombra-de-una-palmera_17682911541_o img_9066_20142633405_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii75_20595250093_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466796986_o 7u3a9398_49597579441_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach 2g9a0932_48805747668_o 2012-Queens-Jubilee sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165234374_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16199280970_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-08_14130564566_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente25_12249483594_o img_4102_21438027406_o 1_img_0075_43733184952_o 2g9a1114_48952341577_o 2g9a1974_49048523953_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-23 Punta-Europa-7 img_5436_41600440874_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-124_29524267331_o stormzy-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-27_44884691341_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-8_30661245820_o img_8072_42792486130_o 95404_29416773681_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770663330_o 127014_29416795091_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29845564652_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417184655_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-16 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26154507635_o 2g9a2013_26964555680_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
