160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 2g9a9945_48907306628_o 2g9a9959_48907838616_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-321_22756374331_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-364_22745084275_o default Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. default img_4014_16074198258_o 1_discurso-del-ministro-principal-en-la-cuarta-comisin-de-la-asamblea-general-de-la-organizacin-de-naciones-unidas_29491640634_o img_0327_45202120685_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22697060984_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival43_14981642259_o img_0566_44297155450_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii70_21029588789_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-09_9225481906_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-94_29151392220_o img_2671_44650716515_o img_0647_21596926225_o 2g9a2995_49093919133_o 7u3a9649_49900297808_o 2g9a0889_48806101656_o gib-view-1_38737087565_o img_9753_21275193618_o 2g9a83_46634164981_o 2g9a5941_48204605856_o img_0220_45106514454_o img_4175_45831075731_o img_9766_44160764204_o dscf7904_44600538511_o img_2383_44585539982_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-159_38547043961_o img_4633_37373697441_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133411_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-72_21161111856_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026137421_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-91_20564656904_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-12_30790814361_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho16_14125069468_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
