Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0490_32242281998_o img_6633_35502332656_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-21_14150891072_o gibraltar-eslovaquia03_10967407065_o 7u3a5209_49336225313_o img_2340_25761250938_o Mezquita-26 commonwealth-park-17_24765491067_o P1080721 plaza-de-la-verdura-1_27855773429_o Southport-gates-7 2g9a0700_48919806842_o img_4727_48714140836_o img_3954_30891445097_o 7U3A2458 img_1912_26967037278_o img_2332_26972679258_o 2g9a9167_29519228343_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133351_o 2g9a5350_30926128046_o img_2235_37163044435_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-46_30846288462_o 89098_28871964064_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26679118675_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-10bn_21052080459_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-49_20564694524_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201447_15811530261_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-07_15943268752_o 2g9a9472_27839933146_o 2g9a2875_27090560684_o 2g9a0332-2_26856506532_o img_8944_24454318256_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
