A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0043_43202820544_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-metro-motel_9703119968_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival04_14277759000_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival46_14981691150_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201411_15553469650_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii60_21206039392_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868061041_o 7u3a6487_49454013093_o lema-stay-at-home-stay-safe_49846306238_o img_7578_35694936276_o 2016-Alameda-Gardens-200th-Anniversay Endangered-Animals MM180007 img_0101_29910411388_o 26-julio-2014-partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-01_14755670885_o 2g9a9680_50032952897_o img_0169_29910433108_o img_0364_5_6_fused_38737229305_o 2g9a2022_49049240867_o Punta-Europa-7 sdr img_3931-1_45831050101_o 7U3A2465 img_5296_41600447044_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331786984_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-28_34428542036_o img_2102_36349106963_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-68_29605106195_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318389362_o 2g9a5212_30873134061_o 2g9a9761_27874079615_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876084701_o img_3329_27839977496_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
