160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-54_26374630491_o gibraltar-recibe-anualmente-ms-de-7-millones-de-turistas_22552336950_o 2g9a9489_48908302782_o 20150911_134012999_ios_22729827732_o colas-peatonales-24-febrero-20147_12757552835_o img_0408_45389529744_o juan-carlos-arauzo-2-por-la-d-la-lnea-de-la-concepcin-espaa_14029840561_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival46_14981691150_o 2g9a0505_26578912860_o 2g9a0703_48805744723_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-6_19384041939_o 7u3a0018_50032156503_o 7u3a9638_49901121607_o 7u3a5842_49425350698_o 2g9a8856_48826250888_o 7u3a5275_49336914627_o Mezquita-2 P1080659 2g9a4714_48717217083_o 2g9a5944_48204653942_o 7U3A2455 img_2023_36212886323_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-1_32102454396_o 17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32247953461_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-54_25326927199_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-39_30874570371_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959237725_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834023575_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062050052_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-01_22868948264_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-41_21195224061_o ceremonia-de-las-llaves-gibraltar-25092014-10_15354656291_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
