160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_43701680410_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. monos-en-la-ciudad-10_9225079886_o img_0558_44297154880_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez12_12102559006_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-38_17157049707_o img_9024_20142712895_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25197318320_o 7u3a9458_49597578781_o img_6602_34700095264_o img_6798_35502341306_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0145_15253268370_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-41_19913563571_o 2g9a0922_48805746128_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-12_14732690116_o img_5742_49086658957_o Monos-46 img_7499_25762256838_o WP_20140508_027 P1080700 2g9a1808_48699797101_o 2g9a6750-copy_48204117742_o img_1707_36861710091_o img_4633_37373697441_o img_9481_36197422705_o img_9892_36311270832_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-24_36750957240_o_36354889963_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-15_29605156015_o img_0387_35644174704_o 2g9a5873_31113484035_o_31001126961_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052253_o img_5089_29191050250_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354087663_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26810216343_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279025_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-39 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-108_29314616730_o img_2983_25158103551_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
