Vistas de Gibraltar cementerio-catolico-gibraltar-02_9222238143_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. cementerio-de-trafalgar-gibraltar_22556702970_o 20150911_102125000_ios_22744392225_o monos-en-la-ciudad-11_9222303613_o img_3720_34112969821_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar32_10382425354_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-33_25062312436_o img_0487_22524932499_o university-panorama-3_21280170528_o festival-literario-gibraltar11_10496914725_o 2g9a4971_48874960736_o img_9537_42077119632_o El-periodico-‘Gibraltar-Evening-Post-mostro-su-preocupacion-sobre-una-posible-guerra-con-motivo-de-la-disputa-sobre-Gibraltar.-Exposicion-‘Closure. la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_26030602275_o 7u3a9633_49900298003_o 2g9a2552_49086444731_o img_8405_24765365267_o gib-view-3_27855876129_o Alameda-15 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-5 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-28 img_5445_48919595806_o img_4175_45831075731_o img_7970_42792487680_o img_3148_40043122955_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-25_31299670184_o 2g9a6089_31113390655_o_31078854826_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-127_38547056581_o 2g9a5078_30659530810_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354092953_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-37_25326939909_o img_2307_37163012995_o img_5130_29399681391_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
