restauracin-cementerio-witham-20_25477580495_o 2g9a9945_48907306628_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-04_9222295155_o la-playa-de-la-caleta-de-gibraltar_22713252246_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325193375_o img_0361_45389520834_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-lawson_9699904439_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival04_14277759000_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201406_15118352014_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880666_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24190853550_o img_4709_44297336680_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48721053377_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho07_14129452059_o 2g9a0841_48805745878_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-02_12864647783_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-10_11213213285_o strongmen-201334_10019190525_o img_4085_20841561924_o img_5742_49086658957_o Alameda-26 P1080700 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131161872_o img_9501_42792483710_o 7U3A2456 img_0159_42144357202_o img_9197_38333623062_o_37651611014_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-17_31992470462_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354048373_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318400062_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354076263_o 2g9a5844_31113333995_o_31114930725_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168279395_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-32_30843110446_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-39_30927267476_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-40bn_20616257084_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
