A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-1_25384702571_o cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22756831081_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-748_22555825120_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23005884534_o colas-frontera-de-gibraltar-11-noviembre-20141_15762221111_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-fabian-picardo-y-esposa_9702998708_o 14009938016_90a12f94bc_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival21_14277940020_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii19_21029714179_o img_6815_34732165413_o img_4740_45202431925_o img_9643_40316199900_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165215504_o 2g9a9717_50032953067_o american-war-memorial-7752_27855785309_o img_0166-1_45106515564_o img_9568_44550413312_o img_1731_43916389304_o img_0141_40383719520_o img_0748_38822717030_o img_0755_38822716370_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-26_31562036651_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354093173_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349009051_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-41_30615616290_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959240175_o 105550_29388298542_o img_9623_26286055310_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23580015903_o a-dsc_0247_19440895811_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
