160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños la-moderna-terminal-internacional-del-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_22118641383_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0301_45202118025_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival45_14463246224_o img_0404_32242153428_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720545138_o 2g9a0703_48805744723_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-14_32513494886_o 2g9a0857_48806238462_o 7u3a5737_49425814276_o Monos-60 main-street-0431_39604149262_o commonwealth-park-18_27855803939_o 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-18 dscf7816_44550418232_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-138_24674711168_o img_9948_42190717681_o img_9113_26588989799_o_24494933608_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31093428910_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077163_o 2g9a5118_22782641768_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-42_28979568994_o 2g9a5332_30873426111_o img_3851_36326634674_o 2g9a4452_30827319821_o 129680_28874476973_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-66 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-20_19340909114_o untitled_panorama1-copy_29478978855_o a-dsc_5483_18816001083_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
