Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_4813_41863364671_o img_0347_45202116045_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii28_21029684769_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25492906955_o img_2618_44650700265_o 2g9a0251_48801280246_o 5-expo_frontera 2g9a0330_48801279501_o festival-literario-gibraltar09_10496929505_o 2g9a0359_48800936438_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0420_24765649497_o gib-view-7_25761700688_o gibraltar-regiment-3_38925519604_o 2g9a8305_46634164461_o dscf7927_43693499555_o img_3240_40043115515_o img_5296_41600447044_o img_2404-2_44585522862_o img_4050_36994296432_o img_7291_34736914446_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-37_31992468812_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-17_30790962351_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331782354_o 2g9a9425_29481565135_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354076263_o 2g9a9786_29372688612_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354077703_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275179410_o img_5336_29370336352_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-90 The Gibraltar Music Festival 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-57_20999241660_o 000-a-dsc_6104_19436735505_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-07_16034487340_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-09_16195950506_o 10-may-2014-relevo-del-bastn-de-la-reina-de-los-juegos-de-la-commonwealth18_14144584656_o 2g9a2887_27668842426_o img_9207_26560135255_o img_4482_25524462342_o gibraltar-national-day-2013-212_9716927827_o 7U3A4778 gibraltar-evacuation-dsc_4192_18001012322_o BP200031
