A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0355_45389521874_o festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar-25102014-34_15630976695_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-16_24970501302_o 2015-Gibraltar-Fire-Rescue-Service-150th-Anniversary 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-30_24457974274_o img_4699_44297314220_o img_1815_31692341668_o img_0123_43064738704_o 2g9a0339_48801281656_o 7u3a5110_49336224203_o 2g9a0406_48800936943_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-1 2g9a5370_48726351532_o img_5211_48919070858_o img_1908_26967038948_o img_9106_38333460332_o_26590181149_o img_9201_24493834838_o_37651610484_o 08-may-2017-36visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606275221_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-28_31299668844_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-128_29524265061_o 2g9a5311_30845025542_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-23_30280682513_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799754666_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-66 Chief Rabbi of Commonwealth at Jews Gate Cemetery opening Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
