A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 4-oct-2017-cm-y-representantes-de-gibraltar-en-cuarta-comisin-de-naciones-unidas-9_37398297800_o img_8929_20116542766_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii88_21205969132_o 2012-Old-Views-of-Gibraltar-II 7u3a9353_49597081913_o img_9641_40316201560_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-02_15447874899_o 7u3a9590_49901121177_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-07_15448394878_o 7u3a9599_49900813366_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-18_15832476453_o 7u3a5088_49336910832_o img_9405_42123217571_o cruise-liners-12_39603827852_o Monos-25 Monos-29 img_6405jkjkh_24764474817_o commonwealth-park-8_27855892709_o shipping_39632672401_o img_4574_48714144356_o img_4167_44014422520_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-76_38490783146_o img_1544_36880217711_o pan-12_34736732346_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-127_29494976272_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354081333_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-61_30927250756_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-17_30874582671_o 2g9a7189_29207197243_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221938014_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26652388596_o img_9505_26493026201_o img_9623_26286055310_o tom-lackey-acrobata-aereo-de-94-anos-en-gibraltar-10102014-24_15493076906_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
