Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_40401054291_o 2g9a9404_48908089726_o 2g9a9951_48908043047_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-359_22756309601_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar13_10382452874_o skywalk-gibraltar-14-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273843655_o university-9_39603872652_o COLA GIBRALTAR festival-literario-gibraltar10_10496939554_o img_9359_28984554597_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-28_19900998582_o img_0456_46063481472_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-24_14130542366_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions strongmen-201323_10019261025_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-28_37623774112_o 7u3a9652_49900812971_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165215504_o img_0379_80_81_24764852677_o img_5249_48919072023_o img_3943_45831065251_o img_4708_48714310862_o dscf7839_43693501635_o img_9586_44881500081_o img_1531_44635088401_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42163382842_o img_0135_40383722430_o img_9042_26588781279_o_37651623264_o img_4614_23521818338_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-4_32102453726_o 2g9a6148_30306802443_o_31001137691_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-2_30615636600_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354096123_o img_9565_26492956541_o img_5183_29479243165_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-38bn_21052097249_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
