180607 - Gibraltar realiza trabajos en enclaves y en el litoral nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27468165634_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9482_48907569733_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23551716241_o nolan-frendo-gibraltar-primer-puesto_14034232762_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-38_9225468550_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii90_20595214883_o img_7564_35734931335_o img_0483_22498728747_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-18_40133899952_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-08_12864685853_o gibraltar-eslovaquia07_10967675153_o img_4174_20919859978_o img_0175_41972500260_o 2g9a1985_49049233777_o img_0244_43781197681_o P1080798 img_5407_48919073503_o img_3826_30891439667_o img_9361_43069207400_o 20171214_111115_38346075574_o r3wire-varski-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-118_44833872592_o img_8979_37649875304_o_37651625164_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-186_38490771436_o img_2058_36213088883_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-23_31319333803_o img_0607_36479629295_o 2g9a5941_31113366755_o_31078852366_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770634030_o 2g9a6104_30306720053_o_31001128131_o img_3866_37163016705_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-9_30661244850_o 2g9a4470_30798998462_o 2g9a9542_28856818034_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25197190150_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-35_24573490439_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234641_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
