A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez29_12102115703_o strongman-en-casemates_9997706486_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 7u3a5860_49425350083_o 2013-60-Years-of-the-first-Gibraltar-Queen-Elizabeth-II evacuation-monument-0480_24765699437_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0072_15438762275_o 2g9a4242_48230643236_o university-23_27855821359_o 2g9a4512_48713811883_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-28 img_5091_48919070258_o 2g9a5968_48204605016_o img_5320_48919602836_o national-day-panorama2_48714140956_o img_5382_48919074188_o dscf7845_44550416902_o img_3008_43693496915_o 7U3A2466 img_1472_44635118681_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42209194681_o img_3210_40937380191_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-107_38515438592_o img_2347_44585502262_o img_2412-2_30765499848_o 2g9a5385_25326079619_o 91933_28871959904_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-4_36312449584_o_36997613432_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417186425_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978709146_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-15 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
