A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 14-agosto-2014-colas-de-accceso-a-gibraltar05_14915477871_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-03_15695202410_o img_0403_32242153888_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar34_10382628033_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9699868435_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival10_14463378724_o foot-04_17683449071_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-15_17176912790_o img_6618_35502333506_o 2g9a0204_48801426657_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-28_37623774112_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-06_14755368792_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente23_12249487484_o img_9690_21275075720_o 7u3a5827_49425820421_o 2g9a8772_48826249738_o devils-tongue-2_27855539039_o Mezquita-15 P1080702 bty 2g9a4669_48714142816_o 2g9a8479_46581730322_o img_3845_45106519224_o img_5382_42322446791_o img_9795_44830682372_o img_2340_26972676878_o img_7980_44603393201_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318392602_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770641380_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-51_30927258716_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-46_30828723301_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29531205086_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
