160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_44604704645_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. la-moderna-terminal-internacional-del-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_22118641383_o 2g9a9901_48907309493_o westside_48248334627_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar13_14964628096_o img_3351_33432739153_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-level-42_9699895285_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez25_12102129493_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez30_12102215094_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862359554_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_5314_34284315472_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851360036_o sir-david-steel_50032130168_o img_9777_21442018996_o Monos-51 2g9a0199_48801280876_o ragged-staff-4_38736911545_o 7u3a9566_49901122137_o 2g9a0580_48919065958_o img_5162_48919068598_o img_3004_44603357731_o img_1793_36605215730_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_39182283384_o img_9498_31008244878_o img_0222_36311278632_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402221220_o 2g9a6151_30306797643_o_31114931355_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-85_38515439422_o 2g9a4589_30827333751_o img_2376_26972661488_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-18_30282262534_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331786384_o 2g9a7346_29750647431_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-114_29314611790_o 2g9a9500_28859399713_o 2g9a9584_28859278833_o 119266_29462642266_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25881621560_o gibraltar-national-day-2013-marcos-moreno16_9720356700_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
