Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16193441617_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325315025_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-mark-eliyahu-ensemble-09_9225481906_o university-panorama-2_21281104679_o img_2720_45564860431_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-14_18949660573_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-30_37398191320_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-25_13967080290_o strongmen-201377_10018902636_o img_4169_20486692433_o 1_img_0067_43733187372_o 7u3a5713_49425346828_o 2g9a8779_48826248828_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-6 alameda-gardens-8_39603342392_o cof img_5323_48919810747_o 2g9a8387_46634162301_o 7U3A2446 img_1668_43916353844_o img_2313_43726200805_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-161_38490774926_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-9_34113615721_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-11_31980778152_o 2g9a7376_29540542460_o 124296_29462632706_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133451_o 2g9a9271_28857828454_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-97_29314623750_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-74 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. 000-a-dsc_6120_19249146540_o investidura-adolfo-canepa-como-nuevo-alcalde11_13581187835_o 8-de-marzo-2016-reunin-de-fabin-picardo-con-miembros-del-psoe-07_24986639884_o img_2782_24625413023_o gibraltar-300-aos-de-utrecht-1372013-26_9289276801_o 2015_09_14__0129_20801200654_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
