Vistas de Gibraltar 160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-25_26168033920_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-668_22122314643_o vehculos-hacen-cola-para-entrar-en-gibraltar_9458058243_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar18_14989373632_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival31_14461041451_o inmaculada-fotos-23112014-01_15907670387_o img_2635_45564819441_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-24_24457980484_o strongman-en-casemates_9997709236_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165215504_o img_9509_41222418705_o 2g9a9873_50032694061_o img_5705_49086660242_o img_5729_49086443961_o img_5752_49085935083_o 2g9a4273_48230654131_o 2g9a0702_48919068933_o img_4973_48919597866_o 2g9a8460_46634159261_o img_1653_43726029775_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-49_31992467502_o 2g9a6076_31113394005_o_30972124082_o img_2144_36991653492_o 2g9a6109_30999545231_o_30747657730_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-55_29605119295_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-78_30927239056_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-99_29524281861_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-13_22784347128_o 2g9a9376_29482310525_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455745962_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29484974911_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27417182995_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23578618294_o img_3304_27839988116_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
