A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0039_43872616132_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival56_14981747048_o asher-moodie-reino-unido-junto-a-bailarines-de-la-mediterranen-dance-school-y-dance-academy_14033036985_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-97_29151382540_o img_0483_22498728747_o 31-de-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho16_14129477520_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002404168_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_15764251674_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165024434_o img_4148_20485174504_o img_0156_43064729154_o img_9629_41403077344_o 7u3a5831_49426047027_o img_4409_39633896271_o taxi-2_25761854238_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131154337_o img_0140-1_31960316628_o national-day-panorama3_48714306817_o img_4094_31960327078_o img_4111_31960315188_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-170_24674702508_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-72_38547077171_o img_2377_26972659898_o img_9984_42144387602_o img_8935_24493372478_o_38310548226_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-25_31299670184_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354081163_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640000_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-86_29570775406_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026150951_o 2g9a6144_30746388380_o_31114931475_o 2g9a5332_30873426111_o 2g9a5380_30926376986_o 102215_28871939194_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-32 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-04_21161088496_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
