A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-44_9222696757_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival19_14441452636_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-6_29331870192_o img_0476_22498822457_o 7u3a6507_49454012493_o P1080612 sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976577625_o commonwealth-park-3_38925446974_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39165324414_o P1080701 img_4617_48714310607_o img_5335_48919602611_o 2g9a8300_46581739082_o 2g9a8361_46581736712_o img_2912_43693499065_o img_1546_43916084194_o img_2347_25970938847_o 2g9a9457_32228023511_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-62_29314654850_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-24_36750957240_o_36354889963_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31427335356_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705916_o 2g9a6037_30306762643_o_31001130071_o img_2157_36973623576_o 2g9a4587_30827334381_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-55_29605119295_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-1_30578381300_o 2g9a9312_29448012696_o img_5049_28856437654_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732674482_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27799730216_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26810216253_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-43 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
