A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-368_22122319024_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634107145_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival07_14277900670_o img_8929_20116542766_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24866204783_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-52_29439815955_o img_0719_21585690522_o img_2579_31692338668_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-26_19287595913_o img_2658_45564847611_o strongmen-201365_10018999025_o 2g9a0330_48801279501_o img_9511_41403111214_o 2g9a0420_48801283016_o img_4209_20919792098_o 7u3a9627_49901121712_o 2g9a2054_48705912518_o 2g9a2056_48705912393_o img_5350_48919810302_o img_1689_36166372914_o img_1740_36193472203_o img_9660_29944609347_o img_5398_42275726052_o img_3014_43693496555_o img_2359_25970935987_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_9098_26589042549_o_37651620764_o img_3549_37604622506_o 2g9a5782_31949657513_o img_9051_37650079584_o_37651622774_o 2g9a6069_30999753331_o_30747657960_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354087663_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-37 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168277215_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23580015023_o img_5287_28854577874_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-17_19775579090_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
