Vistas de Gibraltar 15-de-abril-2016-jardines-de-la-alameda-de-gibraltar-23_25838051143_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2g9a9427_48908096266_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-03_15695202410_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013_9703173486_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23299052146_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival10_14463378724_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-31_9225458430_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival39_14277745239_o puerta-en-la-librera-garrison_17682912371_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_2744_44650724035_o 2015-RAF-squadrons-Gibraltar img_0555_22729138690_o 2g9a0492_26784203071_o img_4644_32242473038_o img_4699_44297314220_o 2g9a0287_48801281171_o img_9096_39633897311_o 2g9a0928_48806240282_o img_3942_48699660061_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-8 img_5173_48919068418_o cof img_5377_41421453175_o 2g9a6690_48204068216_o img_0744_39737059525_o img_4899_48919805767_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-29_32129382315_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-30_29495047132_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-84_30962796975_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-94_30661161100_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-51_30927331866_o 2g9a7305_29833297105_o 2g9a7179_29207202153_o tom-lackey-acrobata-aereo-de-94-anos-en-gibraltar-10102014-15_15493079526_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
