Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-12-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367547470_o img_4001_15641851393_o img_4011_16075876857_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii15_21216534915_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - As Gibraltar woke up for work, John Macintosh Hall closed the count to the general election placing the GSLP/Liberal Alliance as the party to form Government. With an overall mayority 68.03% against the GSD's 31.37, the GSLP/Liberals recorded an overwhelming victory which once again sees Fabian Picardo as the Chief Minister of Gibraltar. The results were: -PICARDO, Fabian Raymond 10852 GARCIA, Joseph John 10661 CORTES, John Emmanuel 10529 LICUDI, Gilbert Horace 10379 ISOLA , Albert Joseph 10313 COSTA, Neil Francis 10048 SACRAMENTO, Samantha Jane 9822 LINARES, Steven Ernest 9690BALBAN, Paul John 9511 BOSSANO, Joseph John 9145FEETHAM, Daniel Anthony 5054 HASSAN NAHON, Marlene Dinah Esther 4892 PHILLIPS, Elliott John 4784 REYES, Edwin Joseph 4766 CLINTON, Roy Mark 4733 HAMMOND, Trevor Nicholas 4578LLAMAS, Lawrence Francis 4565 VASQUEZ, Robert Michael 4535 WHITE, Christopher George 4324 KARNANI-SANTOS, Kim Sylvia 4314 juan-carlos-arauzo-la-lnea-de-la-concepcin-espaa-en-el-festival-internacional-de-la-cancin-de-gibraltar_14033509134_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii54_21028526438_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868057221_o img_5248_33634013393_o 7u3a9477_49597827667_o img_2592_45564831661_o 2020-Nuestros-nuevos-colegios-ilustraciones-de-Karl-Ullger img_0491_22928204541_o Gibraltar - Operation Sea Snake sees tanks and Royal Marines land on Eastern Beach 2g9a0961_48805747068_o img_9515_41403110184_o 7u3a5847_49425350483_o 2g9a8848_48826627341_o img_7617_39603757972_o alameda-gardens-8_39603342392_o gib-calling-panorama-5_48699831377_o img_4069_48699660836_o img_5291_48919071428_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-177_26771241299_o img_9920_40383754930_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_4145_37023368741_o 08-may-2017-18visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895399654_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-35_29495043352_o 2g9a5916_30999441671_o_31001133401_o gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_30946069256_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24862230934_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-31_24645635120_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
