Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-27_25451433736_o img_3800_34086384292_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival15_14277715229_o pasajeros-en-el-interior-de-un-vehculo-en-la-cola-de-acceso-a-gibraltar_9460842480_o img_9033_19520051974_o GIbraltar Citizens Advice Bureau office launch "Here to Help" img_5217_34313395251_o img_0491_32242285488_o img_5238_33634014233_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862363854_o img_2602_45564830491_o 2016-Alameda-Gardens-200th-Anniversay cervantes-07 20-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho03_14331950153_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-13_14732691056_o ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho10_14316103525_o 2g9a1070_48951598278_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-9 img_5188_48919806342_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-35 img_3257_40228840654_o img_1923_26967035668_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-14_30800465372_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-86_38490782236_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959246245_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331787634_o 2g9a9779_29481270825_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052253_o 110183_29207859940_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354081333_o investidura-adolfo-canepa-como-nuevo-alcalde07_13581204803_o img_2088_36973652726_o img_2953_25133025492_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. img_2708_25159009771_o GIBRALTAR NATIONAL DAY el-alcalde-de-la-lnea-de-la-concepcin-juan-franco-la-lnea-100x100_21423527485_o img_7962_21272229536_o 20-de-agosto-2015-celebraciones-aniversario-sir-joshua-hassan-mar-del-sur-48_20571237949_o Kingston-26 Gibraltar, 25 septiembre 2013.
