cementerio-de-trafalgar-gibraltar_22121850274_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-3_25477574815_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23634186425_o img_0513_45389672554_o img_8869_20115186316_o img_9947_43202780524_o img_9032_20134641472_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-26_9222716441_o 2013-Gibraltar-54th-Member-of-UEFA regiment-freedom-of-city-0097_15439635082_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002513008_o 2g9a0864_48806100741_o img_0079_42877265175_o 2g9a0923_48806238762_o img_4298_20484976974_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002340068_o evacuation-monument-0475_39634006581_o 1_img_0123_43064738704_o 2g9a4289_48230651791_o 2g9a5935_48204606191_o 7U3A2446 img_9276_29944486347_o img_1542_29696563557_o img_5405_41600469174_o img_8796_24494354408_o 08-may-2017-35visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353145880_o img_9545_36197419385_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-19_37148806825_o_37027015991_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-79_29494973792_o untitled_panorama3_36973642046_o 2g9a6168_31077375946_o_31114930955_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-24_30874578231_o 2g9a4637_30879135326_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-14_30800465372_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275181180_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-12_26935101915_o img_9596_25956055963_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-14_22868961474_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home. 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-55_20566237693_o 2g9a9745_27874083715_o 2g9a0119_26917385096_o rueda-de-prensa-de-fabin-picardo-y-joseph-garca-en-bruselas_27187078486_o img_9145_26534049176_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
