turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-273_22124148433_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - Fabian Picardo led his GSLP/LiberalAlliance Ministers to the Convent earlier this morning where there were sworn into Government by Acting Governor Alison Macmilan. He and his team then headed to Number Six where they held their first press call as the newly formed Government following a landslide victory. img_4833_40056265270_o img_0431_45202144315_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival36_15168396625_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699855265_o sombra-de-una-palmera_17682911541_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-12_29360169351_o 2018-Views-of-the-Rock proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988645_o img_0637_21409042838_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0072_15438762275_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-09_12865025954_o 2g9a0338_48800935623_o gibraltar-eslovaquia17_10967496046_o 7u3a9635_49900297978_o img_5898_49085939808_o evacuation-monument-0471_39634009881_o rooke-3_24765047097_o Southport-gates-7 img_4917_48919598151_o img_4727_48714140836_o 2g9a8409_46634161811_o nova-twins-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-118_43072418870_o img_2051_37021278075_o img_8164_30729846708_o img_0690_36082756270_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-74_38547076711_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-84_29524291931_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 123605_29462634486_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-20_22868950694_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-18_16035937279_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
