Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 20150911_135333795_ios_22120596584_o default Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16193112519_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22698129863_o img_0358_44296999010_o img_8826_20147089721_o img_0456_46063481472_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_25466799046_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-19_14150893532_o 7u3a5102_49336690866_o american-war-memorial-7753_25762320768_o WP_20140508_024 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-14 2g9a4504_48713812218_o 2g9a8393_46634162131_o img_1780_36605216850_o img_1527_36880225491_o img_8061_44600547541_o img_7173_34776877175_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354080623_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-71_29314645680_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-115_29494984942_o 2g9a5908_30306643103_o_31078852766_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239875_o 2g9a7342_29750649021_o 2g9a9438_29481556675_o 2g9a9500_28859399713_o 2g9a9519_28856844894_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732838952_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25549739864_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-40_20999463468_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off 2g9a9638_27596424500_o img_2693_24621549314_o img_2512_24723567459_o img_9087-copy_26287152540_o img_9013_24399281761_o gobernador-de-gibraltar-edward-davis_24129250609_o 9-septiembre-15-national-day-2015-35_21113788659_o img_8147_21110263390_o img_4483_19917728043_o gibraltar-defence-police-2_48859357383_o
