A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-13-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273841775_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar04_10382458176_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22957234899_o EL-MIN2 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival48_14464377305_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii26_20595366793_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-30_29360134551_o img_5161_34402434706_o img_6764_35502347006_o img_7572_35565771052_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0261_15438762735_o university-8_39603872142_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-13_16266652797_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16200455339_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente10_12249641936_o strongmen-201322_10019354643_o strongmen-201384_10018789894_o alameda-gardens-4_39603339022_o img_5192_48919808727_o 2g9a8346_32759671008_o img_4107-1_45106518274_o img_2356_39948489645_o img_9528_44830690592_o gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_22803092378_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354091903_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-23_30247379744_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-15_30843119206_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834029375_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-64 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074984063_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-40_24914823956_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
