181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto nueva-ruta-area-gibraltar-manchester_27467451353_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_40401119331_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-575_22121520384_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-337_22745149835_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23266166339_o img_3740_34112961651_o img_0380_45202127385_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez13_12102273314_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9699873395_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival02_14484528453_o 2018-65th-Anniversary-of-the-Coronation img_0479_22903659152_o 2g9a4937_48875162547_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16386690875_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-11_14150905192_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-16_14150403041_o img_4614_48713815278_o img_4107-1_45106518274_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-7_32754311467_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-63_29605110545_o img_9470_44160740494_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-33_25327025379_o img_3545_36982592643_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239125_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-21_38627529480_o 2g9a7317_29750652991_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331782974_o img_9623_26286055310_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354051513_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564936_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354082203_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234641_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-19_30247382304_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-04_21161088496_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
