A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0511_45389671994_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201411_15553469650_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_8917_19520175794_o 2g9a0400_48800937018_o img_5898_49085939808_o 2g9a0409_48801429222_o img_5910_49086447936_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-8_37398194050_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-36 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-19_16450799331_o commonwealth-park-14_38925461814_o img_2649_27855865679_o P1080721 2g9a2076_48706249681_o 2g9a2080_48706249571_o img_5120_48919069773_o img_5201_48919808622_o img_5374_48919072148_o img_1653_43726029775_o img_9613_43969715785_o img_2335_26972678068_o img_4594_23521820008_o 2g9a5323_30845129512_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-98_25326897279_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331782354_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-9_30243940573_o img_2187_36326671424_o 2g9a9271_28857828454_o img_5041_29481003735_o simulacro-accidente-aereo-en-gibraltar-03122014-04_15757900269_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
