A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_40401121821_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-719_22555873990_o desde-la-parte-alta-del-pen-se-divisa-frica_22725604802_o airport-0429_24765631067_o colas-frontera-2-abril-2014-infogibraltar-fotgrafo-marcos-moreno_13598473973_o img_0366_44297010760_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar32_10382425354_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-18_9222665493_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703088580_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival09_14464514925_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival24_14463417204_o foot-01_17495553878_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201411_15553469650_o 2015-RAF-Squadrons-IV Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742374533_o 2g9a8355_48874549448_o 7u3a9671_49900812806_o 2g9a2583_49086447351_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-9 st-michaels-cave-3_38737125405_o img_1546_43916084194_o img_9799_43969746635_o img_3204_40895454322_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-136_37830964054_o img_5278_41600438794_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-156_24674707698_o img_9092_38333502812_o_24494940788_o img_7277_34736891666_o 2g9a6098_30999556571_o_31078854596_o 2g9a5089_22782597398_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-35_34309884702_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-29_30578369840_o img_2296_36765365780_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-7_26867183461_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
