A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_132729617_ios_22122027303_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-479_22123930803_o colas-frontera-diciembre07_12348798093_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii22_21216507555_o img_5263_34402478076_o intercambio-cultural-entre-gibraltar-y-cdiz_42896444541_o festival-literario-gibraltar05_10496980584_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente10_12249641936_o changing-of-the-guard-the-convent-0426_25762614198_o img_0181_29910429548_o Monos-15 main-street-0435_38925638504_o 2g9a8441_32759667218_o img_4727_48714140836_o img_1464_29696617697_o img_1790_36605216500_o img_5405_41600469174_o img_0155_40383715590_o img_9217_38309484726_o_24494934938_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354048853_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31427339086_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-46_28981296213_o 2g9a4503_30280745794_o 2g9a4540_30280740484_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-15_30843119206_o 2g9a9810_29372684692_o img_5294_29190456540_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-17_26935099285_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-23 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24206821945_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-07_19776880979_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
