160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-676_22730312622_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3316_34112856981_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699813877_o img_0467_45202130835_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-36_17338550216_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-32_9225457518_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii15_21216534915_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_32554442355_o 7u3a9403_49597828772_o 7u3a9496_49597827342_o 2013-Gibraltar-54th-Member-of-UEFA img_2728_44650726475_o 2g9a0559_26817621986_o img_4695_46063764672_o 2g9a1978_49049023746_o 2g9a4930_48874428293_o 2g9a1973_48699797396_o 2g9a0911_48806101396_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131160107_o 2g9a3950_49336910632_o img_5382_48919074188_o img_4587_48713814718_o img_3989_30891444647_o img_1413_44585039292_o img_5439_41600440524_o img_8986_38332994822_o_26590190319_o img_8805_26589635029_o 08-may-2017-10visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895407454_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-24_31980775222_o img_9455_36030360782_o img_9480_35393044673_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-91_25326901969_o 2g9a7330_29750651211_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28939774144_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29531205086_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556205810_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25881619790_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26062053582_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
