A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-610_22555049020_o 7u3a9755_50033001367_o airport-0425_38925602124_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar22_14989721515_o img_4814_41146189534_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez26_12101834445_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii43_21216464545_o img_5326_34443972735_o 7u3a9362_49597829007_o 2g9a0843_48806100901_o img_2584_30623744547_o university-27_39633682371_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-21_14150891072_o 1_img_0071_43733186362_o img_9560_28250748498_o img_5705_49086660242_o img_0210_29910454658_o img_8581_38737100725_o img_9733_21275003860_o st-michaels-cave-23_27855904839_o 2g9a4539_48714142791_o img_1635_43726052185_o img_2431_26972640588_o 2g9a9393_32228020261_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-37_31562033261_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-32_29605143365_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-20_36750959710_o_36354890713_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-40_29605135895_o 2g9a5378_30845371732_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-104_30846251072_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732843452_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27345928491_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-1_26142222512_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
