A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar27_14803167427_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0165_15251988039_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-26_9222716441_o img_4115_21097751282_o 7u3a9477_49597827667_o img_8926_39603826862_o 7u3a6462_49454013618_o Mezquita-3 henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201432_15437599848_o dav 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-32_37623773272_o img_4057_45781939482_o 2g9a5956_48204605506_o img_1492_42824864110_o img_9794_43969679195_o img_0196_28318278628_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-132_24674712088_o img_8995_26588603349_o_26590189039_o 2g9a9449_31505852954_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-15_32129381595_o img_2262_36349054193_o 2g9a6144_30746388380_o_31114931475_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-41_30843306206_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_26808902494_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-19 Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
