160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 2g9a9408_48908088796_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_38590511160_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-21_19901704560_o img_9382_43202800974_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-54_29331775372_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-17_29439875415_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-56_29331772212_o hospital-de-campaa_49726264848_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0072-bw_15416887626_o university-panorama-3_21280170528_o img_4710_44297337100_o img_4745_45202432445_o 2g9a0835_48806099051_o 2g9a0241_48800934073_o festival-literario-gibraltar10_10496939554_o 7u3a9599_49900813366_o img_7504_38925219504_o WP_20140508_032 2g9a4492_48713812583_o img_4734_48713815358_o 7U3A2374 img_9837_31008295968_o img_2391_43726234495_o img_1155_36166366944_o img_0144_40383718240_o img_8124_44553068722_o img_2348_39948490785_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402218430_o img_0805_39737052355_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770640000_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-33_30828730931_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168291795_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941928963_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26073142564_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24288110083_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-08_22868970364_o 2g9a9410_27262515693_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
