181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto 2g9a9951_48908043047_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Commissioner of police at Town Range Polling Station as he oversees security) Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23608073176_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-01_15694998498_o img_9316_42112015560_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703006280_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-31_17338554426_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-22_9222677337_o img_8860_19953391348_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-44_9222696757_o img_7564_35734931335_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 2013-HRH-Prince-George-of-Cambridge 2015-YouStamps-2015 img_4638_31174604217_o 2g9a0278_48801281251_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-21_31710621334_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-31_37623773442_o img_4213_21097589592_o 7u3a5737_49425814276_o Caleta-y-Playa img_9562_24765470447_o img_0744_39737059525_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-16_38627528080_o img_1458_36624005480_o 2g9a9469_32228028891_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-75_29314642660_o img_2103_36973647076_o 2g9a5256_30925825006_o 2g9a7356_29540548160_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24286855584_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-38bn_21052097249_o 5-enero-2014-cabalgata-de-reyes-gibraltar-11_15602193113_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
