Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. 2g9a9416_48907569188_o monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-03_9225072732_o monos-en-la-ciudad-20_9222307311_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-04_15696742787_o colas-de-salida-26-01-15_15756889984_o steve-cline-reino-unido_14033017725_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival10_14463378724_o 7u3a9493_49597578231_o img_6581_35154403340_o img_0476_22498822457_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-27_13967048887_o 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-30_37398191320_o img_9648_21276312789_o img_9619_41403080144_o Alameda-5 img_0212_45781930422_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131067151_o 7U3A2368 img_9834_44160804094_o img_2378_29697136327_o img_1414_30765092938_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-54_32141127665_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-62_32141124365_o img_9880_36433410896_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318399202_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978714906_o 2g9a5972_30746307420_o_31001132081_o img_3705_37163105915_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-45_25326933339_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-3_30962853065_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-5_30846389752_o 2g9a7452_29540586250_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
