20150911_101454122_ios_22755665371_o 2g9a9849_48907833961_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-663_22122331423_o colas-frontera-diciembre03_12348814863_o skywalk-gibraltar-16-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549690_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar12_14800934979_o GIbraltar Citizens Advice Bureau office launch "Here to Help" img_3379_33859243390_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22957381509_o img_3788_34243163435_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 2014-Europa-2014-Musical-Instruments regiment-freedom-of-city-0216_15253367778_o MM180007 img_0481_22524943749_o concierto-andrea-bocelli_48720880561_o 2535DB1 lincoln-uefa-21072015-24_19901007182_o strongmen-201357_10019051556_o 7u3a5840_49426046697_o img_5249_48919072023_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114498523_o 2g9a8354_32759670148_o img_0221_30891444117_o img_9098_26589042549_o_37651620764_o 7U3A2469 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354043763_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-30_30661185960_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-17_25566929027_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959239125_o img_2269_37020638801_o 2g9a9435_29481558725_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455738262_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222140483_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
