Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-2-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_41367549160_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii49_21190197146_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_23858216994_o img_7584_35347377990_o 7u3a6446_49454014038_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho02_14125104359_o Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks img_4263_21097539372_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002484178_o 7u3a9594_49901121962_o 2g9a2574_49085939498_o Monos-42 P1080665 panorama-18_24765528797_o 2g9a2096_48706248771_o 2g9a8470_46581732682_o 2g9a8341_32759671228_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_41488509304_o img_0178_28318284688_o img_9192_24493865138_o_38310532486_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318394092_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-50-aniversario-referndum-10967-21_36750958550_o_37027015711_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349009801_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-47_29495035972_o 2g9a5968_31113363925_o_31078852156_o 2g9a5150_30659667930_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556200630_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222138773_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-20_24645629120_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24124234641_o 000-crowning-dsc_0237_19249139448_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off img_2700_24621538754_o The Gibraltar Music Festival 2g9a1710_26964556390_o img_1486_24884472501_o Gibraltar -28th September 2015 - The Governor of Gibraltar today departed From office bidding Farewell to politicians and the armed Forces in what ended up to be a low Key ceremony.
