conferencia-sobre-telecomunicaciones-de-la-commonwealth_40401083901_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-137_22745472555_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-9-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273842135_o 25-noviember-2014-cola-de-salida-gibraltar-02_15696482999_o skywalk-gibraltar-15-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273843225_o img_4810_26995115817_o img_9885_43921154781_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez18_12102540816_o img_0474_44297156590_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-37_17362589882_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851360036_o 2019-Post-Go-Moon-Landings Gibraltar - Preparations for Operation Sea Snake start at Eastern beach with tanks 2g9a0729_48806099816_o 2g9a0351_48801427392_o img_4254_20920842339_o american-war-memorial-7756_27855782349_o Alameda-9 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-15 1_Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-17 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114499018_o dav img_3163_40937386411_o img_2404-2_44585522862_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-102_26771251919_o 2g9a9424_32308844776_o img_0594_36082709670_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978712646_o img_2323_36349036413_o 2g9a5256_30925825006_o 2g9a4503_30280745794_o 2g9a7189_29207197243_o 2g9a9293_28860275853_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27732843452_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834022655_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405552410_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405561330_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
