160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños restauracin-cementerio-witham-16_24847014834_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. bishop-canilla-panorama1_48908088586_o 9-de-diciembre-de-2015-ceremonia-inaugural-del-nuevo-parlamento-de-gibraltar_23551787291_o In less than five minutes a free flowing pedestrain zone saw queues increased by effecting a total stop of all persons crossing for nearly 15 minutes. This led to queues forming on the Gibraltar side extending into the airport forecourt within minutes. elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23216924022_o img_9316_42112015560_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival27_14463414014_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival06_14461013101_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival30_14981846977_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-36_17338550216_o img_9945_21476673281_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25248543033_o 2g9a8806_48826622876_o 2g9a0257_48801426002_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-35 2g9a0956_48805747153_o img_5164_48919068563_o img_0164_41972505660_o img_9948_42190717681_o img_9681_20842047033_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_25021148247_o 7u3a0134_50032693781_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-4_34113617961_o img_5378_48919604071_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-44_31531497702_o img_8235_29664841897_o img_9461_35393046013_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_30655823343_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959236635_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27221937214_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551864273_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
