A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. el-castillo-moro-de-gibraltar-abajo-la-ciudad-y-el-puerto_22727026562_o img_0126_20263917161_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_30271420747_o foot-04_17683449071_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742374873_o hospital-de-campaa_49726264773_o 2016-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Monkey lincoln-uefa-21072015-28_19900998582_o 2g9a0494_48801283516_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16384943991_o 7u3a5315_49336915052_o evacuation-monument-0489_27856102459_o panorama_1-3_39603951672_o taxi-1_38924836184_o 2g9a1745_48699322093_o img_4069_48699660836_o img_1279_36830742482_o img_2919_44603352141_o img_1635_43726052185_o img_3543_36982592303_o img_9132_37650319204_o_37651619314_o img_9146_37650292474_o_38310538546_o img_8843_38334131232_o img_3548_34196604356_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-41_31677585125_o img_0246_36479583055_o img_0672_36082753300_o 2g9a6014_31113349025_o_31078851906_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026132951_o 2g9a6040_30306940063_o_31078851596_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-95_25326898979_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-37_30282249254_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-47bn_21051017518_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876086661_o img_2503_24460558584_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
